Community Service Clubs

SMU Caretalyst 

To promote Local and Overseas CSP, Leadership Workshops and Trainings, Social Enterprise, Community Service Project (CSP) Camp
There are three arms of SMU Caretalyst – community service, school outreach and social entrepreneurship. SMU Caretalyst has been very active in community service projects in 2009, which include Revitalize!, Baikheart, Adopt-A-Home and an OCIP to Tianjin (Project Dandelion). For school outreaches, SMU Caretalyst focuses on educating, empowering and encouraging students to care for the society by conducting workshops in secondary schools like ACS(I).

SMU Red Cross 

Specialize in Blood Donation Drive, First Aid and Disaster Preparedness, Local CSPs, Overseas CSP
SMU Red Cross is part of Singapore Red Cross’s Red Cross Humanitarian Network (RCHN) which consists of Universities, Junior Colleges, Polytechnics and ITEs. SMU Red Cross was founded in 2001 and its signature projects are A Truly Magical Christmas Public Blood Donation Drive and Project R.I.C.E. The aim of the club is to instill in the students a passion for community service and to spread the awareness of the importance of first aid knowledge and blood donation.

SMU Rotaract 

Promote Community Service, International Service, Professional Development, Club Service
Rotaract (Rotary-in-Action) clubs are part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. The Rotaract Movement is synonymous with community service. They believe in contributing towards the well-being of their fellow communities, as well as, developing themselves to better contribute to the society. There are 4 avenue of service – Community Service, Professional Development, Club Service & International Service.

SMU-BP Mentoring 

Specialize in Volunteering, Mentoring and Counseling
Since its inception in 2002 and through its participation in BP (British Petroleum) International Student Mentoring Programme, SMU BPMentoring has been working together with SMU students to enrich the lives of its mentees through collaborations with educational institutions. The club also organizes mentoring and counselling workshops for SMU students to impart them with the necessary skills to be an effective mentor.

SMU-ISE 

Singapore Management University-Initiatives for Social Enterprise (SMU-ISE) is a student-run social entrepreneurship club that works with members in the social arena to initiate projects which allow students to put their classroom learning into practice. SMU-ISE aims to help create economic opportunities by empowering segments of the society through the teaching of success skills for them to be economically independent.

Tri Touch ConneXion 

Specialize in both Local and Overseas Community Service Projects
The group was formed in the year 2007. It is affiliated to En Community Services and the group does its local community service projects with the beneficiaries of En Community Services (e.g. schools, daycare centres and orphanages). We work mainly with youths and children. For its international community services arm, the group ties up with YMCA Singapore and En Community Services. The group organizes community service trips to both Cambodia and Yunan. We are intending to keep sending teams to the two locations in an attempt to have continuity in our work there. Lastly, the group collaborates with SMRT in organizing road shows that promote safety on board MRT trains and buses.

University YMCA (Uni-Y) 

Specialize in both Local and International Community Service
University YMCA at Singapore Management University is a service club of the YMCA of Singapore which was formed in the year 2005 for University students at SMU. Its current 600-member strong society supports the mission of the YMCA by harnessing and developing the potential of youth. Uni-Y provides volunteering platforms for university students to be involved in community service while serving, develop personal character and skills.
