Barworks

Specialize in Cocktail Mixology and Alcohol Knowledge
BarWorks aims to spread the passion for bartending to the SMU community, as well as various local universities; bringing people together to learn and have fun at the same time! On top of regular cocktail-mixing and flairing workshops, the club is also planning for an annual bartending competition that allows inspired tertiary students to display their skills.

Gamers Irregular

Specialize in Electronic Gaming
Formed in 2005-2006 and just reformed starting 2009. Have since organized multiple events for gaming competitions and liaised with multiple external companies like “IAHGames”, “EvolutionB” and “Cherry” for partnership/collaborations to expose club members to more competitions for experience in the year 2009.

Gourmet Club

To source and keep up to date with all forms of gastronomical haunts and events in Singapore
SMU’s Gourmet Club was founded in 2004 to dish out a smorgasbord of new and exciting culinary experiences for its members. It was established for the sole purpose of bringing together like-minded souls who simply love to eat – Be it hawker hunts or fine dining experiences, the club aims to spread the love for food as well as cater to all demographics of students in SMU.

Motor Inc.

Specialize in Cars/Motor Related
Motor Inc had one purpose for students with a common passion for motor-sports to come together and develop that interest. Motor Inc has come a long way since its founding, but its core values continue to stay centered on friendship, passion, and fun. They aims to promote and spread the love of their interest among SMU students by organizing car related events as well as to educate the student population about motor related matters.

People for Animal Welfare (PAW)

Specialize in Animal Welfare
PAW was founded by a group of passionate Singapore Management University (SMU) students who want to bring across a simple message – treat animals humanely. They are dedicated to broadcasting responsible pet ownership and the prevention of animal cruelty. They do this through education by organizing events, volunteering, gatherings and collaborations with other animal welfare groups. Today, PAW focuses on domestic animal welfare but still lend their support to concerns over wildlife conservation, unethical animal farming and wildlife and pet trade issues.

SMU Debating Society

Specialize in debating and taking part in both local and global competitions
According to the Colm Fynn’s World Debate Institution Rankings, SMU is presently in the top 40 debating institutions in the world, the youngest one on that list. SMU has also fielded the last Asian team to enter the final series at the World University Debating Championship, the world’s largest non-sporting event. Last year, they were semi-finalists at the AUDC missing the finals on a very tight margin. In local and regional tournaments SMU has the strongest record in Singapore in the past three years having won many championships including all the past Singapore Debate Opens (annually organized by NUS).

To empower the SMU community with realistic personal protection skills
Defence Arts strives to develop greater resilience in the SMU community and priority for their personal and national safety. This is by way of exposing SMU students to various forms of martial arts and self-defence systems and making personal protection an overall enjoyable as well as educational experience. They further strive to reach out to their populace who plan on leaving their shores for OCIP and exchange purposes.

Specialize in areas of angling
SMURF is made up of a group of young individuals who find that indulging themselves in the beauty of nature is the best way to unwind away from the hectic and fast-paced lifestyle they experience. Other than fishing, SMURF also specializes in the popular sport of prawning and sees great value in this hobby as it provides a great platform for family and friends to interact.

SMU Recreational Gaming Club

To streamline and regulate all social table games within SMU, specialize in Mah-jong and Contract Bridge
SMU RGC aims to serve as an avenue for SMU community to relieve their stress within the city campus, to create opportunities for SMU community to interact and network through a competitive, gambling-free social gaming approach. They also emphasis on the need for discipline and responsible gaming. They hope to work closely with external parties to better spread the message of problem gambling within the public.

SMU Relate

Specialize in Corporate Social Responsibilities events
SMU Relate hopes to become the platform that helps students and youth embrace the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility, eventually bringing this attitude into the world they would be leading. Since establishment, SMU Relate has been actively involved in Singapore Compact’s events, not only participating in them but helping out in the various events. Besides that, SMU Relate attempts to promote CSR awareness in the student committee by visiting classes and by promoting CSR events.

SMU Toastmasters

To hone communication and leadership skills of students
Founded in 2004, SMU Toastmasters (SMUTM) is a learning platform for all SMU students to hone their communication and leadership skills. Registered as a qualified Toastmasters club, our club follows the pedagogy of a full-fledged educational organization called the Toastmasters International (TI). With its headquarters in California, TI is now established and wellrecognized in more than 92 countries with more than 100 TM clubs in Singapore alone.

SMU Wine Appreciation

Specialize in organizing wine appreciation courses and events like Beer Appreciation, Cocktail Workshop etc
SMU Wine Appreciation Club was started by a group of wine enthusiasts who wanted to share the culture of wine appreciation with their peers and to demystify people perception towards wine appreciation. They wish to provide wine-enthusiasts in SMU a platform to share with one another their knowledge of wine and further appreciate it Also, they hope to inculcate SMU students and staff who are interested in wine appreciation as a networking skill In the midst of doing so, SMU students get to interact with one another and truly appreciate wine for what it is and not just for the social posh.

Strategica aims to stimulate minds through the playing of intellectual games, providing both entertainment and sharpening mental prowess simultaneously. Also, they hope to expose all SMU students to such alternative forms of recreation, with the purpose of broadening their perspectives. They also look into doing Community Service Projects.

MindSports

MindSports cater to the three games of International Chess, XiangQi (Chinese Chess), and Weiqi (Go). It aims primarily to be competition-centric, and seeks to develop players toward competition standards. The club will also actively recruit newcomers and train them for school-level representation, and if possible, national-level representation.
